A simple framework
for using Unordinary Life.

01 · About the service

Unordinary Life is an independently operated storytelling platform.

The service is available at www.theunordinarylife.com.

Unordinary Life does not currently identify a separate incorporated company as the operator. If that changes, these Terms may be updated accordingly.

02 · Accepting these Terms

By using the service, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms or the Community Guidelines, you should not use the service.

03 · Your account

You are responsible for access to your account.

Account access currently uses email-based one-time codes. You are responsible for maintaining control of the email account you use to sign in.

Your private sign-in identity is separate from the public identity you choose for a story.

04 · Guest writing

You may begin writing without signing in.

Guest drafts may be stored locally in the browser. If you want cross-device access or wish to continue into account-based publishing features, you may need to sign in.

05 · Your content

You are responsible for what you submit and publish.

You should only publish material that you wrote or otherwise have the rights necessary to publish.

Do not publish confidential information, unlawfully disclosed personal information, or material that infringes another person's copyright or other legal rights.

06 · Ownership and rights in your stories

Your story remains yours.

You retain the copyright and other ownership rights that you genuinely hold in the original content you submit to Unordinary Life.

By publishing a story, you grant Unordinary Life a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, reproduce, format, display, communicate, distribute, and make the story available as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, moderate, improve, and promote the service.

This includes permission to use reasonable excerpts, titles, descriptions, and previews of published stories to promote the story or Unordinary Life through search results, social media, newsletters, promotional material, and Unordinary Life channels.

This licence does not transfer ownership of your copyright to Unordinary Life. Except for the rights expressly granted in these Terms, you remain free to use your own story.

Commercial interest in published stories

Published stories may attract interest from publishers, journalists, filmmakers, documentary makers, podcast creators, broadcasters, digital media companies, or other third parties.

Publication on Unordinary Life does not itself give third parties permission to copy, republish, commercially exploit, or adapt the copyrighted expression contained in a story except where permitted by applicable law or separately authorised by the relevant rights holder.

Where Unordinary Life identifies, receives, facilitates, or introduces a genuine commercial opportunity relating to a published story, Unordinary Life may privately contact the author regarding that opportunity.

Before entering into an arrangement through another party in relation to a commercial opportunity first introduced or materially facilitated by Unordinary Life, the author agrees to give Unordinary Life a reasonable opportunity to discuss and negotiate the proposed arrangement with the author.

Any transfer, exclusive licence, adaptation right, commercial exploitation right, revenue share, royalty, payment, duration, territory, or other material commercial term will require a separate agreement between the relevant parties.

These Terms alone do not authorise Unordinary Life to sell an author's film, television, book, podcast, documentary, or other adaptation rights without a separate agreement.

Anonymous stories

Choosing Anonymous changes what readers see. It does not transfer copyright to Unordinary Life.

Unordinary Life may privately retain a technical relationship between a published story and the authenticated account that submitted it. That private relationship may be used for account access, moderation, rights management, genuine commercial enquiries, disputes, security, or legal obligations.

We do not disclose an anonymous author's private account information merely because a reader, publisher, journalist, producer, copyright complainant, or other third party asks for it.

Unpublishing and deletion

If you unpublish a story, Unordinary Life will stop displaying it publicly through the ordinary service, subject to reasonable technical, moderation, security, archival, contractual, backup, and legal requirements.

Deleting or unpublishing content does not cancel a separate commercial agreement already entered into concerning that story.

07 · Authorship confirmation

Authors confirm that they have publishing rights.

Before publishing, you may be required to confirm that you wrote the story or otherwise have the rights necessary to publish it.

You should not knowingly make a false authorship or ownership declaration.

08 · Public identity

You choose how your author identity appears publicly.

A story may be published as Anonymous, under a pseudonym, or under a real/public name you choose to display.

Choosing Anonymous does not remove responsibility for the content and does not guarantee that details within the story cannot identify you.

09 · Published content

Anything you publish should be treated as public.

Other people may read, quote, discuss, copy, screenshot, or share parts of published stories.

Unordinary Life cannot guarantee that third-party copies will disappear if a story is later unpublished or deleted.

10 · Editing and unpublishing

Authors can manage eligible stories.

Published-story edits may remain private until you explicitly publish the revised version.

Eligible stories may be unpublished or deleted through the features provided by the service.

11 · Community Guidelines

The Community Guidelines are part of these Terms.

Your use of Unordinary Life must comply with the Community Guidelines, including rules relating to harassment, hate, privacy, sexual or fetish content, threats, scams, spam, and platform misuse.

12 · Prohibited misuse

Do not use Unordinary Life to harm people or the service.

• • harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate another person;
• • expose private personal information unlawfully;
• • deceptively impersonate someone;
• • operate fraud, scams, phishing, or spam;
• • distribute malicious software;
• • interfere with the security of the service;
• • use the service primarily for pornography or fetish content;
• • encourage serious unlawful harm;
• • violate applicable law or another person's rights.

13 · Sensitive subject matter

Difficult stories are not automatically prohibited.

Genuine life stories may involve sexuality, abuse, violence, trauma, grief, addiction, illness, crime, relationships, family conflict, or other difficult subjects.

Context matters. Sensitive storytelling is different from content primarily intended to exploit, sexually gratify, threaten, harass, or facilitate serious wrongdoing.

14 · Reporting

Published content can be reported.

Reports help identify possible violations of these Terms, privacy concerns, copyright issues, or Community Guideline concerns.

A report does not automatically remove a story or guarantee a particular outcome.

15 · Moderation

We may review and moderate content.

Unordinary Life may dismiss reports, restrict visibility, place stories on moderation hold, remove content, preserve relevant records, restrict functionality, or take another reasonable action.

16 · Copyright complaints

Copyright concerns will be reviewed.

If you believe a story infringes copyright that you own or are authorised to represent, contact us with enough information to identify the copyrighted work, the relevant Unordinary Life story, and the basis of your claim.

We may contact the submitting account privately, preserve relevant records, restrict the content while a matter is reviewed, request additional evidence, or take other reasonable action.

A copyright complaint does not automatically entitle the complainant to private account information about an anonymous or pseudonymous author.

17 · No guarantee of truth

User stories are not necessarily independently verified.

Unordinary Life provides a platform for personal storytelling. We do not guarantee that every statement made by every author is complete, accurate, independently verified, or objectively true.

18 · No professional advice

Personal stories are not professional advice.

Stories may discuss medical, psychological, legal, financial, relationship, career, or other experiences. Such content should not be relied upon as professional advice.

19 · Third-party services

Parts of the service rely on third-party providers.

Unordinary Life currently uses services including Supabase, Vercel, and Resend for infrastructure, hosting, authentication, databases, analytics, and email delivery.

20 · Availability and data loss

Do not treat the platform as your only permanent archive.

The service may experience downtime, bugs, delays, technical failures, security incidents, or data loss.

If a story is personally important, consider retaining your own copy outside Unordinary Life.

21 · Limitation of responsibility

The service is provided on an evolving basis.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Unordinary Life does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, perfect security, error-free operation, or the accuracy of user-generated content.

Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

22 · Legal compliance

We may act where law, rights, safety, or security require it.

Unordinary Life may preserve, restrict, disclose, or remove information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or valid legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, resolve disputes, or secure the service.

23 · Suspension or termination

Serious or repeated misuse may lead to restrictions.

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary because of serious or repeated violations, fraud, abuse, security concerns, legal requirements, or significant risks to users or the service.

24 · Changes to these Terms

These Terms may evolve with the platform.

We may update these Terms as features, operating arrangements, laws, risks, commercial models, or service providers change.

If you are making a copyright or legal complaint, please identify the relevant story, explain the basis of your claim, and provide enough information for the matter to be reviewed.

A complaint does not automatically entitle the complainant to private account information about an author. Private information will only be handled or disclosed where appropriate under applicable law, valid legal process, platform rules, contractual obligations, or legitimate safety and security requirements.
