01 · About this service

Unordinary Life is currently an independently operated project.

The service is available at www.theunordinarylife.com.

Unordinary Life does not currently identify a separate incorporated company as the operator of the service. If that changes, this Privacy Policy will be updated.

02 · Information we collect

We collect information needed to operate the platform.

Depending on how you use Unordinary Life, this may include:

• • your email address when you create or access an account;
• • stories, titles, drafts, revisions, categories, and publication choices you submit;
• • the public identity option you choose for a story;
• • reports you submit about published stories;
• • technical information processed for authentication, security, reliability, fraud prevention, and abuse prevention.

03 · Guest drafts

You can begin writing without creating an account.

Guest drafts may be stored locally in your browser on the device you are using.

A guest draft is not automatically available on another device. If you choose to save across devices, you can sign in and transfer the draft into your private account.

Clearing browser storage, changing devices, using certain private-browsing settings, or removing browser data may cause a locally stored guest draft to become unavailable before it is transferred to an account.

04 · Account authentication

We use email-based one-time codes for sign-in.

When you sign in, we send a temporary authentication code to the email address you provide.

Authentication is provided through Supabase, and authentication emails are delivered using Resend.

Your email address is used privately for account access and is not automatically displayed as your author identity.

05 · Private stories and drafts

Signed-in drafts are linked privately to your account.

Private stories are associated internally with your account so you can return to them later and continue from another device after signing in.

The public story interface does not need to expose that private account relationship. Publicly displayed story data is kept separate from private account information.

06 · Public identity

You decide how readers see you.

Before publishing a story, you can choose:

• • Anonymous — readers see “Anonymous.”
• • Pseudonym — readers see the public name you choose.
• • Real name — readers see the public name you enter.

Your private account email remains separate from these public identity choices.

07 · What “Anonymous” means

Anonymous to readers does not mean technically untraceable.

Choosing Anonymous prevents your public author name or account email from being displayed with the story.

Unordinary Life may still retain a private technical relationship between a story and the account that submitted it for account access, security, moderation, rights management, dispute handling, and legal compliance.

We therefore do not promise absolute or forensic anonymity.

08 · Information inside your story

Your story itself may reveal who you are.

Even when a story is published as Anonymous, names, workplaces, schools, exact locations, dates, contact details, unusual events, or combinations of personal facts may make you or another person identifiable.

Unordinary Life therefore asks authors to complete a privacy review before publication.

09 · Published stories

Published stories are public.

When you publish a story, it may become visible to anyone who can access the website.

Other people may read, quote, copy, discuss, screenshot, or share public content. Unordinary Life cannot control every action taken by people who have already seen a published story.

10 · Authorship and rights declarations

Authors confirm that they have the right to publish.

Before publication, authors may be asked to confirm that they wrote the story or otherwise have the rights necessary to publish it.

That declaration, together with account and story records, may be relevant when reviewing copyright or ownership disputes. It does not necessarily establish definitive legal ownership of every part of a submission.

11 · Editing published stories

Changes remain private until you publish them.

If you edit a published story, the changes may be stored as a private revision. Readers continue seeing the existing published version until you explicitly publish the changes.

12 · Unpublishing and deleting

Authors can manage eligible stories.

Where the product allows it, you can unpublish a story so it is no longer publicly readable, or permanently delete eligible stories from your account.

Certain actions may be temporarily restricted while a story is subject to moderation or another legitimate platform process.

13 · Reports and moderation

Published stories can be reported.

A report may include the story being reported, the selected reason, an optional note, the time of the report, and where applicable an internal identifier associated with the reporting account.

Reports are not intended to be publicly visible and may be reviewed through restricted moderation tools.

14 · Moderation hold

A story may be temporarily removed from public view.

A story on moderation hold may remain in the author's private account while being unavailable publicly.

Editing, deletion, or republication may also be temporarily restricted while moderation is active.

15 · How we use information

We use information to operate and protect the service.

• • authenticate users and provide account access;
• • save and retrieve drafts;
• • publish stories when requested;
• • operate reporting and moderation;
• • maintain security and platform integrity;
• • investigate abuse, fraud, copyright disputes, or misuse;
• • communicate about genuine commercial story opportunities;
• • comply with applicable legal obligations.

16 · Service providers

We rely on third-party infrastructure.

• • Supabase for authentication, database services, and backend infrastructure;
• • Vercel for website hosting, deployment, and analytics;
• • Resend for authentication and email infrastructure.

17 · International processing

Information may be processed in different countries.

Because Unordinary Life relies on global infrastructure, information may be stored or processed outside the country in which you live.

18 · Security

We use access controls, but no online service is perfectly secure.

Unordinary Life uses account permissions and database controls designed to separate private user content, publicly published content, authentication information, and moderation data.

No website, database, email system, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

19 · Sensitive stories

Think carefully before submitting highly sensitive information.

Stories can involve medical, financial, legal, sexual, relationship, family, workplace, identity, or other highly personal information.

If a detail is not necessary to tell your story, consider removing or generalising it.

20 · Data retention

We retain information while it is reasonably needed.

Account information and stories may remain stored while your account or content remains active.

Limited records may remain where reasonably necessary for backups, security, fraud prevention, moderation, copyright disputes, contractual matters, legal obligations, or enforcement.

21 · Your choices

You control much of what you share.

• • keep stories private as drafts;
• • choose how your public identity appears;
• • edit eligible content;
• • create private revisions;
• • unpublish eligible stories;
• • delete eligible stories;
• • contact us about privacy or data concerns.

22 · Legal requests and disclosure

Private account information is not disclosed merely because someone asks.

A copyright complaint, media enquiry, disagreement, or request from another person does not automatically entitle that person to an anonymous author's private account information.

We may preserve, review, or disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, valid legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate serious misuse, enforce platform rules, or secure the service.

23 · Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may evolve.

We may update this policy as features, service providers, operating arrangements, or legal requirements change.
