01 · About this service

Unordinary Life is currently an independently operated project.

The service is available at www.theunordinarylife.com.

Unordinary Life does not currently identify a separate incorporated company as the operator of the service. If that changes, this Privacy Policy will be updated.

02 · Information we collect

We collect information needed to operate the platform.

Depending on how you use Unordinary Life, this may include:

• • your email address when you create or access an account;
• • stories, titles, drafts, revisions, categories, and publication choices you submit;
• • the public identity option you choose for a story;
• • reports you submit about published stories;
• • technical information processed by our service providers for authentication, security, reliability, and abuse prevention.

03 · Guest drafts

You can begin writing without creating an account.

Guest drafts may be stored locally in your browser on the device you are using.

A guest draft is not automatically available on another device. If you choose to save across devices, you can sign in and transfer the draft into your private account.

Clearing browser storage, using private-browsing settings, changing devices, or removing browser data may cause a locally stored guest draft to become unavailable before it is transferred to an account.

04 · Account authentication

We use email-based one-time codes for sign-in.

When you sign in, we send a temporary authentication code to the email address you provide.

Authentication is provided through Supabase, and authentication emails are delivered using Resend.

Your email address is used privately for account access and is not automatically displayed as your author identity.

05 · Private stories and drafts

Signed-in drafts are linked to your account.

Private stories are stored so you can return to them later and continue from another device after signing in.

Access controls are used so ordinary users should only be able to access stories associated with their own account, except for stories deliberately published for public viewing.

06 · Public identity

You decide how readers see you.

Before publishing a story, you can choose one of the available public identity options:

• • Anonymous — readers see “Anonymous.”
• • Pseudonym — readers see the name you choose for that story.
• • Real name — readers see the public name you enter.

Your account email remains separate from these public identity choices.

07 · What “Anonymous” means

Anonymous to readers does not mean technically untraceable.

Choosing Anonymous prevents your public author name or account email from being displayed with the story.

It does not mean that no technical relationship can ever exist between a submission and an account, browser session, security log, or service-provider record.

We therefore do not promise absolute or forensic anonymity.

08 · Information inside your story

Your story itself may reveal who you are.

Even when a story is published as Anonymous, details such as names, workplaces, schools, exact locations, dates, contact information, unusual events, or combinations of personal facts may make you or another person identifiable.

Unordinary Life therefore asks authors to complete a privacy review before publication.

09 · Published stories

Published stories are public.

When you publish a story, it may become visible to anyone who can access the website.

Other people may read, quote, copy, discuss, screenshot, or share public content. Unordinary Life cannot control every action taken by people who have already seen a published story.

10 · Editing published stories

Changes remain private until you publish them.

If you edit a published story, the changes are stored as a private revision. Readers continue seeing the existing published version until you explicitly publish the changes.

11 · Unpublishing and deleting

Authors have control over ordinary stories in their account.

Where the product allows it, you can unpublish a story so it is no longer publicly readable.

You may also permanently delete eligible stories from your account. Deletion is presented with confirmation because it may not be reversible.

Certain actions may be temporarily restricted when a story is subject to moderation or another platform process.

12 · Reports and moderation

Published stories can be reported.

A report may include the story being reported, the reason selected, an optional note, the time of the report, and, where applicable, an internal identifier associated with the reporting account.

Reports are not intended to be publicly visible. Authorized moderation access may be used to review them.

13 · Moderation hold

A reported story may be removed from public view.

If moderation action is required, a story may be placed on moderation hold.

While on hold, the story may remain in the author's account but may be unavailable publicly and temporarily restricted from editing, deletion, or republication.

14 · How we use information

We use information to operate and protect the service.

Information may be used to:

• • authenticate users and provide account access;
• • save and retrieve drafts;
• • publish stories when requested by the author;
• • operate reporting and moderation systems;
• • maintain security, reliability, and platform integrity;
• • investigate abuse, fraud, or misuse;
• • comply with applicable legal obligations.

15 · Service providers

We rely on third-party infrastructure.

At present, Unordinary Life uses third-party services including:

• • Supabase for authentication, database services, and related backend infrastructure;
• • Vercel for website hosting and deployment;
• • Resend for delivery of authentication emails.

These providers may process information as necessary to provide their services and maintain security and reliability.

16 · International processing

Service providers may process information in different countries.

Because Unordinary Life relies on global infrastructure providers, information may be stored or processed outside the country in which you live.

The privacy and data-protection rules that apply may differ depending on location and applicable law.

17 · Security

We use access controls, but no online service is perfectly secure.

Unordinary Life uses account-based permissions and database access controls designed to separate private user content from publicly published content and restricted moderation data.

However, no website, database, email system, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

18 · Sensitive stories

Think carefully before submitting highly sensitive information.

Life stories can involve deeply personal experiences. You should consider carefully whether you want particular medical, financial, legal, sexual, family, workplace, identity, or other sensitive information stored or published online.

If a detail is not necessary to tell your story, consider removing or generalizing it.

19 · Data retention

We retain information while it is needed to provide the service.

Account information and stories may remain stored while your account or content remains active.

Some limited information may remain for a reasonable period after deletion where necessary for backups, security, fraud prevention, moderation records, disputes, or legal obligations.

20 · Your choices

You can control much of what you share.

Depending on the available product features, you may be able to:

• • keep stories private as drafts;
• • choose how your public identity appears;
• • edit unpublished content;
• • create private revisions to published stories;
• • unpublish eligible stories;
• • delete eligible stories.

21 · Children

Unordinary Life is not currently designed specifically for children.

Age requirements and protections may be added or changed as the platform develops. Users should comply with applicable law and any age requirements stated elsewhere in the service.

22 · Legal requests

Information may be disclosed where legally required.

We may preserve, review, or disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, lawful legal process, enforce platform rules, protect users, investigate misuse, or address serious safety or security concerns.

23 · Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may change as Unordinary Life develops.

We may update this policy when features, service providers, legal requirements, or operating arrangements change.

The effective date shown at the top of the page will be updated when material revisions are made.
